Back in March the International Criminals Court issued an arrest warrant for Omar al-Bashir, the president of Sudan, for war crimes related to the 2003 genocide. In his first interview with the BBC since the warrant, Bashir claims that genocide never happened. He claims that only a small fraction of the 300,000 reported killed were actually killed. And, he attributes these deaths to a rebel insurgency that his government defended against thus justifying his actions. His primary position is that the “manufactured” genocide story along with the warrant for his arrest were created in an attempt by the western world to take over Sudan. His blatant disregard for human life is quite disturbing not to mention the audacity of his denial.
