The Comming Battle

David Sibley

With Justice David Souter retiring from the Supreme Court at the end of this term, Washington is preparing for a battle over the confirmation over who the President will choose. The more conservatives fear that the President will choose an "activist" judge who will help expand the meaning of the constitution, where as the liberals are placing greater emphasis gender and race of the future nominee.

Also with a new court nominee many people are expecting some of the social issues that have been put on the backburner because of the economy , may come to the for front of politics again. Several activists have begun to say that now is the perfect time for issuing new immigrant laws, and other activists believe now is the opportune time to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy that has seen hundreds of military personel discharged from the military, among those several arabic experts whom are in short supply overseas.

I think it will be very interesting to see this coming storm over the replacement of this supreme court justice, and it could have long repruccusions to our society, and how Nation influences the laws of other Nations in the Globe.
