In an article from the BBC the leader of a bloodless coup in Guinea will not run for their upcoming elections nor will his allies in the overthrow. This is actually a big deal because we rarely get to see a military general give up power legitimately with elections coming up. This is big news because it is a step towards democracy in a nation that could easily be exploited from the resources they have. This decision from Capt Camara gives us all a promising outlook for Africa and hopefully for more democracies in a continent that has been ravaged. However it seems that politicians have been attempting to overthrow Camara with the help with two other officers but Camara seems to be leaving peacefully. This, hopefully, leads to a promising future for Guinea.
