In Kuwait, women for the first time in five decades have won four seats in the nations parliament. This is a big deal, considering women only won political rights in 2005, and have had absolutely no luck in the previous two elections since that time. It is also important to recognize the fact that Kuwait is also one of the Middle East's more conservative nations.
I think it will be interesting to watch these woman make history in the next few years, see how the current parliament and the men in the majority react to having these woman helping create legislation for the nation. It will also be interesting to see if Kuwait will continue its move towards liberalization and westernization, or if their will be a conservative backlash to prevent any further changes to the status quo.
