Romania Prime Minister resigns

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta has resigned after some 20,000 people took the streets to protest over a club fire Friday night that left 32 people dead.

Friday's fire in Bucharest  left citizens enraged and in consequence demanded that Ponta stepped down due to government corruption and poor safety supervision. Although Ponta did step down and stated that he hopes his resignation satisfies the people who came out in the streets,  it is very unfortunate that it took a fatal fire for the prime minister and his government to resign.

More than 100 citizens are hospitalized after suffering serious burns and poisoning in the fire. Many who took the streets and blamed Ponta for the high death toll stated; "things must change and change must come from those who govern us."  However, not only  were the demands coming from the protesters...

President Klaus Lohannis also added his voice to the demands for political accountability and set light on the charges that Ponta underwent in September for fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering.

Despite the tragic events Romania should feel proud about removing Ponta from office. They have united and have bettered the future of their country.
