Pentagon Confronts a New Threat from ISIS: Exploding Drones

Kurdish forces fighting ISIS last week shot down a drone the size of a small model airplane in the northern region of Iraq. Believing it to be like the other drones that have been flying over from the Islamic State, the small drone was brought back to their outpost for examination. Upon taking it apart, however, it blew up, killing two Kurdish fighters. This is one of the first times, it's believed, that ISIS has successfully used a drone to kill troops on the battlefield. In the last month, the Islamic State has tried to use drones to launch attacks, and these attempted attacks show that the Islamic State is using accessible technology as a new way to launch attacks.
