Massive turnout in defense of Mexican democracy

On Sunday, November 13, 2022, tens of thousands of Mexicans took to the streets to protest Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO). They're opposing a proposal made by AMLO to remake the electoral process and National Electoral Institute. It is regarded as a trustful and legitimate institution. AMLO claims it is an institution that only favors the rich and powerful elite of Mexico. In contrast, its citizens view it as an attempt by him to consolidate his power in order to quench his opposition. Although the proposal that AMLO proposed wouldn't abolish or entirely gut the National Electoral Institute, it would significantly reduce its size and power. AMLO's legitimacy as a trustful and reliable is being called into question as protests against him wage throughout Mexico City.
