Clearly as time goes on, trends are changing. What started out as a male-dominated government in the late 1700's is now a racial, religious, and uniquely gendered landscape.

Who Runs the World? - Megan Lemley
A new record has been set for female governors in the United States after the 2022 midterm elections - a whopping twelve women. Even more surprisingly, there were two "women-only contests" as well. Not only were large steps made for females in state government positions, Katie Britt was also the first woman from Alabama to be elected to serve as a US Senator.
