On November 6th, 2022 envoys gather in Egypt to discuss climate change, the war in Ukraine, inflation, and food shortages. Antonio Guterres, U.N. Secretary-General, warned that the climate was heading into "climate chaos" unless major countries cut back on emissions and support poor countries with the impacts of climate change. Over 120 world leaders will be in attendance however two of the top world polluters will not be there; China's President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Egypt has faced criticism for restricting protesters and increasing surveillance during the meeting. Human Rights Watch has joined groups to try and lift the restrictions.
