A private university in Uganda notified female nursing and midwifery students that they would be required to take a pregnancy test at a fee or they would not be allowed to take their exams. Various individuals involved in healthcare in Africa spoke out in anger on the topic. A women's rights organization in Uganda also posted a letter they sent to the university. Two days after the notice was issued, the university reversed its policy.
