Afghanistan bans all Pakistani newspapers

Afghanistan is putting a ban on all newspapers from Pakistan. The Afghan border police are making sweeps all along the eastern border to get ride of the Pakistan papers. They are doing this because they say the writers in the Pakistani newspapers are using "anti- government" propaganda, while also adding speeches made by Taliban leaders. Afghan leaders are choosing to make their point strong to show this is not what they stand for and they are hoping this ban proves their point. The two countries have been dealing with a strong level of tension due to the blamed Pakistan military against Afghan officials in cross- border shelling. The Afghan foreign minister warned the UN Security Council in NY that he think the diplomatic ties it has with Pakistan are threatened. The author, warned that this ban could make the tension even worse and felt that the only way for it to be resolved would be with ministerial decree. I think it is interesting to see how strong of an action Afghanistan is taking to try and prove their point. I feel that it will have the opposite effect and invoke the Pakistanis to get more of their papers and beliefs into Afghanistan, especially considering how the anti- islam movie is having an effect on the people in the middle east. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2012/09/2012922143456468763.html?utm_content=automate&utm_campaign=Trial6&utm_source=NewSocialFlow&utm_term=plustweets&utm_medium=MasterAccount Michele Dobbs
