Mrs. Clinton welcomed Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, a pro-democracy leader and a parliament member of Burma, and discussed about Ms. Suu Kyi's 17-day trip in the United States. During the conversation, Ms. Suu Kyi asked for further relaxation of the sanctions of the U.S. upon Burma. Mrs. Clinton also reminded to be watchful of the chance of reversibility if more reforms cannot be done by the Burmese government. Later, Ms. Suu Kyi spoke at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, mentioning that the first obstacle was already got rid of. The words she have said during her speech was also powerful. "In the end, we have to build our own democracy." After receiving the Congressional Gold Metal today, Ms. Suu Kyi also met with President Obama at the White House. Just before her visit to President Obama, the U.S. announced that the sanctions on Burmese President Thein Sein and another official named Thura Shwe Mann are removed. Critics think that Ms. Suu Kyi will be raised questions later about ethnic conflicts in Rakhine state in the western Burma, which she did not talk a lot about. There are also problems needed to be solved such as freedom of remaining political prisoners.

It will be nice to keep track of what will happen in a couple weeks since Ms. Suu Kyi will be here for three weeks, and her trip also coincided with Burmese President Thein Sein's visit.
