Sudan has rejected the U.S. request to send marines
platoons to the embassy near Khartoum.
The fifty marines had already set off for Sudan, but were called back
when Sudan rejected this request for the marines. In an effort to protect the people, the U.S.
ordered all family members out of Khartoum and Tunis, and has issued travel
warnings. Due to a film that belittles the prophet Muhammad, five thousand people
swarmed the German Embassy, the U.S. mission, as well as the British
Embassy. Due to these protests of people
who are outraged by the film, at least 6 people have been killed in these
events, and more than 40 have been seriously injured. Sudan managed to tighten their security a bit
after some of the protest incidents that occurred on Friday. Sudan has been
criticizing Germany for allowing protests last month, and the Obama
administration sees the video as not pertinent to the protests. Among everybody, there is still plenty of
unrest.
