Burma still denies passports to political prisoners

"
End Passport, Education Restrictions; Provide Support for Those Released"

Despite all the buzz about Burma's stabs at reform, it seems they are still dragging their feet on releasing several hundred political prisoners.  Furthermore, they continue to deny passports to many former political prisoners, despite granting amnesty to a select few.  The Human Rights Watch also commented that Burma has done little to help with the rehabilitation of many of its political prisoners, some of who suffered physical and psychological traumas while behind bars.  The government is also rumored to be exercising pressure against the formation of student unions.  Some former students claim the heads of their universities will not re-admit them after their political imprisonment or involvement in pro-democratic movements because of government influences.  It sounds like Burma has a long way to in terms of how it treats its people if it wishes to join the rest of the developed world.
