Although its coverage has not been as prominent as that of the Ukraine crisis, anti-government protests in Venezuela are continuing on. The demonstrations have been going on for weeks, as the anti-government rallies are aimed at blaming President Nicolas Maduro for economic strife that they are living in. He has shown no hesitation in using physical violence to attempt to subdue the crowds. In total it is estimated that at least 31 people have died and over 450 have been injured in clashes between the protesters and the government forces. In an interview Maduro expressed no remorse for the way he has handled the protests, often blaming the citizens for their own problems and refusing to give in to their demands for him to resign. This conflict began right around the time that the Ukraine crisis did yet it is still perpetuating itself. At this point it seems that both sides are resisting compromise so it appears that the issue will continue, but hopefully no more lives will have to be lost in the issue.
