On Sunday April 13 Ukraine declared an “anti-terrorist” operation against the pro-Russian group using the Army against a revolt in the Donetsk region. This resulted in a bloody gun fight that caused casualties and wounded on both sides of the struggle for the eastern part of the country. Armed assaults were launched on government buildings in the Donetsk region, close to the Russian border. The start of this gunfight is seen as problematic because Russia has been waiting for a reason to invade.
