Withholding Intel from Ukraine

As pressures rise between Ukraine and Russia, new information  has surfaced that United States intelligence agencies have discovered  detailed information regarding Russia's intentions. Intercepts, geographical locations and analysis pinpoint the various areas Russian troops are stationed and ready, for what can only be assumed to be, a mass invasion of Ukraine. The question remains why the United States, with repeated empathy expressed towards the Ukrainian people from President Obama, refuses to take action and provide the information needed for Ukraine to have their military defense at the ready. While it goes without saying that the Ukraine is terribly out matched militarily, in comparison to Russia, the intel if delivered to Ukraine on time, could at least result in a strong defensive line.
