Somini Sengupta presents an article informing of a U.N. decision to deploy 12,000 peacekeepers to Central African Republic to maintain what is described as anarchy. Neighboring countries have pulled some peacekeeping troops out due to abuse toward C.A.R. civilians, and questions as to U.N. troops avoiding similar abuse is a common concern. 2,000 troops currently reside for this action, and the deployment of the other 10,000 has not yet been confirmed.
It is interesting to see that another country is attempting to temporarily serve as a form of power to eliminate anarchy when the native body of rule fails to come through. In a sense, C.A.R. seems to be the concern of the U.N. insofar as jurisdiction and the people are restrained to standards of social norm deemed as such by another ruling body. But in such cases that those preserving peace can spark even more intense revolution (i.e. peacekeepers killing rioters) it begs the question as to if the peacekeepers are exhibiting their own anarchy, or is it more self-preservation.
