Indonesia to Investigate Soccer Tragedy After Use of Tear Gas Draws Criticism

Dave Sebastian and Niharika Mandhana reporters of the "Wall Street Journal" wrote an article on October 3 of this year called " Indonesia to Investigate Soccer Tragedy After Use of Tear Gas Draws Criticism." In this article, the reporters talk about Indonesia setting an investigation team to investigate the death of 125 people in a soccer game on Saturday. This event began after the home team lost the game and the fans went to the stadium causing disorder then the police came throwing tear gas to control the crowd. Thousands of people fled to an exit door, leading to a crush in which people were trampled and died because they couldn't breathe. The police argue the crowd was anarchic, but human rights groups and Indonesians blame the police for what happened. The investigation would include government officials, experts, academics, and representatives of the country's soccer organization and the investigation would take two to three weeks. Finally, the investigation would focus on why the tear gas was used, what planning and preparation was put in place beforehand, and who order the decision to use the tear gas.
