Taiwan has announced that in its efforts to increase defense against China, any Chinese military flights in to its airspace will be considered a "first strike", including drone flights. Though they did not say what their response would be, this move is in reference to past statements that they would not make the first attack in their conflict with China. This does call into question if the US would follow up Taiwan's stance with support. According to US intelligence, China wants to be prepared to control Taiwan by force within the next five years.
