Mauritania's president mistakenly shot by his nation's troops

In Mauritania Africa the president was supposedly accidentally shot by his own troops.  The president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and his convoy were driving back to the capital of Nouakchott on Saturday when they began to receive shots from a nearby military unit stationed on the side of the road.  The president survived and said everything was fine and that the incident was simply an accident but others believe that it was a planned assassination.  Witnesses of the incident say that they saw gunmen shoot at the president and then ran away.  Mauritania is very unstable politically and which is why they are confronted with threats from Al Qaeda.  The U.S engages with Mauritania in lots of issues such as security, food, trade, human rights and counter terrorism   In recent weeks the security in this state has been increased because of concerns with armed terrorist groups in nearby countries.
