Venezuela election a critical test for divided nation & longtime President Chavez

There has been a lot of tension in Venezuela over the election with current President Chavez and his opponent Henrique Capriles.  Chavez is a socialist who has had control of Venezuela for 14 years, and Henrique has been a serious challenge for him.  Chavez's supporters made sure polling stations stayed open where votes had not yet been cast, and intimidated voters by parading around in motorcycles, wearing red Chavez shirts. Chavez's supporters however deny that they are intimidating anybody.  If Capriles wins, the policies are bound to change drastically from the way they were under Chavez's rule.  Capriles will stop negotiations with Cuba, looser economic control will follow, as well as more private investment.  It is stated that there is much corruption under Chavez's control, but Chavez-supporters like him because he cares deeply about his country. The people of Venezuela are getting tired of this divide between the political aspect of the country because they want to be able to reconnect with both people from both parties. Chavez has spent a lot of money on social programs, but the murder rate has gone up under his administration, and the government has been accused of corruption. People are concerned that regardless of how this political race ends, the Venezuelans will remain divided for a long time.
