This article criticizes Mitt Romnet's lack of a specifically stated plan for how he will handle foreign affairs. The author identifies that Obama's policy has a counterargument, but Mr Romney simply has not explicitly stated it. As the US public opinion continues to slide toward isolationism in terms of foreign affairs, Romney must construct a compelling case for our continued and aggressive involvement in world politics. Romney's weaknesses in this area are presented: his Iran policy differs little from Obama's. He identifies Russia as a serious geopolitical threat, though he failed to present evidence to back up this claim. The task before Mr. Romney is to make a case for US strength and outline his specific plan in order to give voters confidence in the US' future in international affairs for the coming term. He must show how he will be different than Obama, and how is approach will be more effective. So far, he has simply promised that he will in fact be different, just not in what way. If he continues to tread this line, he may simply be written off as a repeat of George W. Bush, and he will lose much of the swing vote in the process.
