Afghans vote for new leader

The elections for a new President in Afghanistan took place today. The current president Hamid Karzai has served two terms and is not allowed to serve anymore. The Taliban raised threats to anyone voting for the candidates. The past few weeks the Taliban killed dozens of people, but despite of all the attacks and threats millions of Afghan people lined up for the polls to vote this Saturday. No major violence was reported after the polls opened on Saturday and millions had voted. From an earlier agreement, all the upcoming candidates agreed to sign a security agreement to allow foreign troops to stay in Afghanistan to improve the country's security. The current president Karzai refused to sign any agreement. This event is one step to bring change to the Middle East and bring in a new leader.
