Ahead of Ukraine elections, a generational split on nationalism

There is a divide between the old and the new generation that seperates their opinions on whether or not they all feel more Russian or Ukranian. Since the new generation has no recollection of the Soviet life like their elders, the young generation say that they feel Ukrainian. The new generation does fluidly speak both Ukrainian and Russian like their parents and the older generations, and they say that the spirit of democracy "could counter the corruption that has plagued Ukraine since independence in 1991. After many weeks of violence, there will be an election of 44 million that will determine whether voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots in some parts of the east. I am curious to see the outcome that will essentially influence whether Ukraine pursues a federal form of government giving more autonomy as Russia wants, or if they will go towards the EU and align with NATO.
