At least ten individuals have been killed in an attack on a Somalian Parliament building in Mogadishu. The attackers used car bombs to gain entry into the building, then opened fire on the building before blowing themselves up. The U.S. released a statement condemning the attacks and assured that they would continue to stand behind the Federal Government of Somalia as it tries to root out al-Shabaab. Interestingly enough, one Somali military police officer said that the attack highlights the weak government of Somalia, and the ineffectiveness of their efforts to root out al-Shabaab from the area. Following the attack the Somali security minister resigned and stated that he hoped another individual could come in and help to solve the problem.
