Pope Francis invites Israeli, Palestinian leaders to Vatican peace talks

Pope Francis once again showed that he has a different approach and invited the leaders of Israel and the Palestinian Authority to travel to the Vatican for a “peace initiative”. The Pope also called for a two-state solution to the conflict. Pope Francis called for the recognition of a Palestinian state; he made the same demand on behalf of Israel. It is nice to see Pope Francis efforts to end conflict in the Middle East. And maybe because he is neutral to the situation, and he is such a powerful figure, the two countries will engage in peace talks. The Pope’s trip to the Holy Land has been rooted in faith not in politics, but in a region where religion and politics are so closely intertwined, his every remark takes on an added significance.
