Kenyan police clash with protesters after opposition leader quits election (Kevin Conne)

The Kenyan election concerns me only because it has the potential to destabilize Kenya and while the Kenyan government is corrupt in nature, it is also somewhat peaceful. A peaceful country in that region of Africa I believe is particularly important considering it's neighbors with Somalia located just above Kenya and Rwanda near below. There is a lot of instability in that small area of Africa. However in many ways this is nothing new for the nation; it has a history of instability when electing a new president. Basically every election since the Kenya's formation has been corrupt or had a small amount of violence associated with. However, Kenya remains a strong ally of the United States especially in Africa, and this was shown to the world when Pres. Obama visited there in 2015.

(Did additional research on US Dept. of State website).
