Spanish PM warns Catalans

Recently, we have seen the attempt from Catalonia to separate from the rest of Spain.  Spain's PM Mariano Rajoy has warned that the country will use its powers (granted to them under the constitution) to suspend the autonomy of the Catalan state if it declares itself independent. The country believes that the referendum that took place was illegal based on their Constituition of 1978. It states that that the entire country is indivisble and only the national government can hold referendums. The Catalan President believes that the 42% turnout at the referendum is victorious and it meant that the state has the right to be independent. In a previous referendum that took place in 2014, 80 percent of Catalans were in favor of becoming independent.
