Should the United States Celebrate Columbus Day?

As you know, Columbus day is this Monday and as much as I loved getting the day off in High School, should we still celebrate this holiday? When Columbus "sailed the ocean blue in 1492" he didn't even reach U.s soil. He made it to the Caribbean and tortured/killed the Natives there. Christopher Columbus has a very dark history that isn't mentioned in textbooks or anything like that. Not until 1992 did the first U.S school denounce this day. More schools have followed in the path of Berkeley so the question is, when will the nation as a whole get rid of Christopher Columbus Day?
