Earlier this year there was an attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun in Syria that killed more than 80 people. The attack was carried out by the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, this attack was confirmed in a joint report from the United Nations and by (information of) what international chemical weapons inspectors found. The outcome of this attack was that of President Trump ordering the United States military to launch 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase. Even after confirmed reports, the Syrian government continues to deny that they had anything to do with the attack and that they are not in possession of any chemical weapons.
