The nation's parliament was flooded with flag-waving Israelis Monday amid warnings that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to weaken the judiciary could cause a "social collapse". Protestors arrived with posters with messages against Netanyahu's plan as well as Palestinian flags. Despite the protest and plea from President Issac Herzog, the government began introducing the reform bill. The bill passed the committee vote and will face a first reading on Wednesday. The reform seeks to change the way judges are selected, and remove government ministries’ independent legal advisors. The reform would also allow a simple majority in the Knesset to overturn Supreme Court rulings.
