According to writer David McKenzie, it seems that South Africa is not afraid to show lack of support for Ukraine. Both China and South Africa currently host naval exercises using Russian naval vessels. With South Africa being in the BRICS pact involving Brazil, Russia, India and China, it puts the United States diplomats in a difficult position to be criticizing South African practices due to the fear of rising economic and political conflicts.
