A foreign object in the sky was ordered by President Biden to be shot down by the US Air Force after appearing on the East Coast. It was later revealed in a press release that the balloon belonged to the Chinese government. This sparks international controversy since it poses the risk of revealing surveillance footage of foreign territories. The Chinese spy balloon is the first public appearance of government surveillance on U.S. soil and it also raises the question if any other countries are spying on each other, including the U.S.
