10 traincars containing highly toxic chemicals derailed in Palestine Ohio. The chemical known as vinyl chloride, a highly volatile and colorless gas, was being transported in 5 of the 10 traincars. Individuals within a mile of the location were ordered to evacuate to prevent further exposure to the carcinogen. Videos and photos show a large black plume of smoke rising from the controlled burn. As of now, the evacuation order has been lifted, but many question just how safe the area actually is. There are many reports of animals becoming sick, or outright dying after exposure to the chemicals.
