6.6 Earthquake Strikes China

An earthquake of 6.6 on the Richter scale has struck the Sichuan province of China, which is located roughly in the south center area of the country.  At this time 186 are reported dead with around 8,200 sent to hospitals and an estimated 11,200 injured.  Chinese authorities also estimate that the drinking water supply will run out within three days time.  Although thousands of emergency workers are attempting to bring relief their progress has been impeeded by the difficult terrain and the damage to transportation and other infrastructure.
