Secretary of State announced that he will meet with Afghan and Pakistani leaders in Brussels next Wednesday to discuss issues between the two states. One major issue to be discussed is the Taliban. The Afghani president and defense minister will be present along with the Pakistani army chief and foreign secretary. The main goal of this meeting is to lay the groundwork towards a "'...stable and peaceful Afghanistan.'" The US is seeking to negotiate an agreement in which some American forces can be present in Afghanistan after 2014. Kerry has dealt with both sides before and hopes that his relationship with leaders from both sides will help this agreement be formed smoothly.
