The United
Arab Emirates stated on Thursday that they
had detained a group that is linked to al Qaeda, consisting of seven members, who
were planning actions against the Gulf Arab oil exporting country's security. The
imprisoned members were of diverse Arab ethnic groups and had been enlisting, funding,
and supplying logistical support to al Qaeda. They had also wanted to increase
their actions to other countries in the region.
"The
cell was planning actions that would target the country's security and the
safety of its citizens and residents, and was carrying out recruitment, and
promoting the actions of al Qaeda," WAM said.
