In light of angry homophobic attacks and protests, France became the fourteenth country to legalize gay marriage on Tuesday.  This law also allows the adoption of children by same sex couples.  In past weeks, there have been many protests against the law, but that did not affect the vote which ended up with a majority of 331 votes for and 225 against.
