Mexican General Linked to Drug Cartels
There has been evidence for quite a while that the Mexican Government has had connections with the Drug Mafia but not until recently has there been evidence that it reached so high. General Tomas Angeles Dauahare was accused four years ago but the case was dismissed recently due to a lack of evidence. This has been the latest in a string of cases that have fallen apart. The General was arrested with three other military officials that are still in prison. The arrest sparked a debate on whether these arrests were legitimate or had a political vendetta in them to undermine certain officials. The supporters of the General claimed that he was imprisoned because of his alliance with Mr. Pena Nieto who is the current president of Mexico. A judge found that many of the testimonies used to incriminate General Dauahare were fabricated along with some evidence. His name was not completely cleared but the lack of evidence and fabricated testimonies lead one to believe he was set up.
