Spain arrests 2 men suspected of al Qaeda group links

As of Tuesday, the Spanish police arrested two men suspected as terrorists. Nou Mediouni, 23, was arrested in the city of Zaragoza, while Hassan El Jaaouani, 52, was arrested in the city of Murcia. Although the men have not been planning an attack, each suspect matched the profile of the brothers involved in the Boston bombings. According to the article, the two men visited radical online chat rooms and websites that instructed them on how to make explosives. Because of the train bombings in Madrid, Spain has been on heightened alert for signs of terrorism. According to the Interior Ministry, both men have been under surveillance for more than a year. Nou Mediouni has supposed ties with al-Qaeda, and the man had even planned to attend a jihadist camp in Mali. Hassan El Jaaouani also is thought to have ties with AQIM. Currently, both of the suspects’ homes are in the process of being searched, and they will be arraigned at the National Court in Madrid.
