Serb Questions Helpfulness of IJCT

The former prime minister of Serbia, Vuk Jeremic, organized a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly last week after two Croat generals convicted of crimes against Serbs were freed last November in a tribunal appeals ruling. Jeremic claims that the tribunals have been unfairly biased against Serbs during their rulings and more frequently convicted Serbs of war crimes. Although these tribunals are generally seen by the members of the United Nations to help the people of the Balkans heal after the war crimes committed, Jeremic questions whether or not these tribunals are really beneficial. Specifically, he addresses whether or not continuing to hold tribunals will help advance the cause of national reconciliation. An additional level of frustration was added to this situation when the United States, Canada, and Jordan boycotted this meeting, a decision which was heavily criticized by Jeremic. Jeremic himself is also recieving criticism for allegedly excluding a leader of the Mothers of Srebrenica, which he denies knowledge of.
