Earlier this week, the head of the Research Division of Israel's Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Itai Baron accused Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of using chemical weapons in their attacks against the rebel forces over the past few months. Baron focused primarily on the incident that occurred on March 19, 2013, where nearly 26 soldiers were killed in a chemical attack. Based off of his evidence, Baron has suggested that the chemical used in this attack was sarin; a deadly nerve agent that is a feared element in Syria's arsenal. Although Britain and France have agreed with these accusations against Israel, the United States is taking a less aggressive stance in order to avoid additional conflicts. This accusation is currently under investigation but, it was noted in the article that the Assad regime is believed to have one of the largest stockpiles of chemical weapons throughout the world.
