Alexei Navalny has been a long time opponent to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. On Saturday 30th September, Navalny was arrested and detained by police without charge. He posted from social media that he had been detained by police at a political rally. Navalny is the leader of the Progress Party who campaign against the corruption of the Putin government. He had also planned to stand against Putin in the December elections but he was banned from running. With Navalny protesting against Putin and his corruption, it is nothing shot of ironic that he was detained without charge by the police as this looks like nothing else but corruption.
