The US Voted Against a UN Resolution Condemning Death Penalty for LGBTQ People

The United States recently voted against a resolution in the UN that would condemn the death penalty as a means to punish homosexuality. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley voted for a provision that stated capital punishment was not a human rights violation and against another amendment that would discourage countries from carrying out executions with experimental drugs. Only 12 other countries voted with the US, including Egypt, Ethiopia, and Saudi Arabia, all countries with horrible records of human rights violations and heinous views on the death penalty and homosexuality. The Obama administration also cast a vote last year that would condemn executions in the cases of minors, pregnant women and the intellectually disabled.
