A recent uproar in Peru has been underway. The issue is not a political one. Rather, the outrage is centered around animal rights- cats, to be more specific. A reported stray cat had settled upon a Peruvian church top and some of the civilians attempted to rescue it. Their assistance was denied, however, by the head priest of the church in question. Some of the residents claim the priest is a "cat hater" and was a cruel man who had it out for the entire stray cat population. Protests about animal rights broke out in the Peruvian city and lasted some time before ended by policemen. The Peruvian government has not shown any further interest in the issue.
