North Korea Soldier Defects at the DMZ

On Saturday, a North Korean soldier shot and killed his superiors before crossing the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The DMZ is the dividing line between the North and South and is also the most difficult and rarest area for northerners to defect. Around noon South Korean guards heard gun shots before the defector crossed the Military Demarcation Line. Once he crossed South Korean soldiers took him into a secure building where he could be questioned further.
