Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir paid his first visit to South Sudan since the UN sponsored succession. While in South Sudan, he called for peace and normalized relations. Unfortunately, the oil and land disputes seem poised to continue, however both sides have agreed that, "the issue will no longer come to war." Furthermore, Bashir has promised to withdraw troops from the area. Unfortunately, neither party could reach an agreement on the Abyei province.
Omar al-Bashir is still wanted by the International Criminal Court
