The Catalans in Barcelona, Spain are facing police brutality because
of their will to vote for their independence. The Spanish police are trying to
prevent a referendum on Catalonian independence by using brute force,
incorporating the use of rubber bullets. The Spanish government said that force
would not be used, but voting would be prohibited. Spanish police of sealed of voting
centers to prevent voters from casting their ballots. Many Catalans want independence
because of the way the Spaniards have treated them over the years, voting is a
right in a democracy, not a privilege. The Spanish government has confiscated
ten million ballots and arrested Catalan officials with the hope of preventing
a referendum. To combat the ire of the Catalans; Catalan government officials are
allowing voters to cast ballots printed at home. The goal of the Spanish government
is to prevent a Catalan referendum by disabling all technologies to count
ballots, their hope is that a referendum will be unattainable. This controversy
is far from over for the Catalan people.
