Clash at Guantanamo

http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/13/world/americas/guantanamo-inmate-guard-clashes/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Guards and detainees had a scuffle this Saturday as the guards attempted to move the prisoners from communal living to individual cells in response to their obstruction of surveillance videos and other actions deemed contradictory for their health and safety as it tampers with the ability of officers to keep 24 hour watch. Comments on the page by readers were very interesting, ranging from sympathetic for the prisoners to recommending "shoot to kill" responses for attack, as the scuffle was met with non-lethal methods of suppression. I find it interesting how arguments erupt, spanning Obama's promise to close the facility to the classification of the detainees as prisoners of war or terrorists. America clearly still has heartfelt pains from 9/11 attacks, yet it seems to me that we have no objectivity in the matter. Most people's opinions seem to be based either in a humanitarian ethical standpoint or an American injustice point of view. Interestingly, the war against terrorism is mentioned and makes the point that these prisoners were captured in a war against an act, not a state. This severely complicates the issue, and also points to fallacies in ethical perspective of declaring wars against ideas or non-state institutions such as drugs.
